Richmond California! I mean Virginia!!

So I went out to Richmond VA a few weeks ago to visit an old friend from school. I hadn't seen her in 5 years, I had never been to the east coast excluding Florida, and I had never experienced a real fall with all the pretty colored leaves...needless to say something had to be done.

I went out for a long weekend and had a blast. I got a sweet tour of the Confederate capital. We drank a ton of beer and got in our fair share of dancing. To my surprise is wasn't as 'south' as i was expecting. It seemed much like a more sunny version of Portland complete with college kids, some rednecks and hipsters - go figure. Although there was a guy from Alabama we met at the Robert E. Lee Monument. He was praising Gen. Lee's name claiming he had read all of his biographies and was counting on Lee's spirit to get him through the marathon the next day...all I could think is "please say Git Hur Dun!!" Nice chap though.

My hostess Megan with someone's incredible front yard decoration. And yes, it was lit up during the day, as if it needed more attention drawn to it...can we get one for the Bayshore house??

Who knew?! They have ducks and swans and geese back east, too!! They also have wild turkeys that roam around apartment complexes...dinner?

That would be the statue and monument for General Robert E. Lee over our shoulders. This was on Monument Ave. where there are other statue/monument/memorials for Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and more.

Looking down Monument Ave. where you can walk in the island between beautiful autumn leaves...although it was a bit strange to be hanging out in the grass in a very parkesque scene with cars driving by on either side of the 'park.'

This was my favorite sign from the trip - I had to take a picture. Check out the Xs in the pedestrians eyes - only in VA. Cheers to that.
