Fair Fun House Fail

We went to the fair last week to see the Beach Boys!! So pumped - Hawaiian shirts, prepartying in the shuttle bus...probably annoying the shit out of the families in the front of the bus - oh ya! we were in the back.

After dancing to the Beach Boys, perving on underage girls with Michaela and a lovely Ferris Wheel ride, we had to hit up a Fun House. We laid seige to one with a rotating cylinder at the end. We talked Ross into pressing against the sides to go upside down...

yaaaaaaa!!!

ouch!

Ross, you're still my hero...especially since you had the dad outfit on.

Santa Cruz Island Fly By

I was lucky enough to get out and see the the islands, at least Santa Cruz, from a plane. It was actually my lovely mother's birthday, and I have long since replaced mere gifts with adventures. This year I took her to Santa Rosa Island on a plane. It was great hanging out on the island and hiking through the Torrey Pines, but the plane ride was the best part...here's why:

potato harbor

forney's cove & isthmus

willow's

coches prietos and albert's

yellow banks and smuggler's

Thanks mom for everything. I hope you had a lovely time...next year I'll take you to the moon.

Sickest SB Weasel!!

It could be the bright green.

It could be the sweet rims.

It could be the cute tatted girl.

...but I think its the beer can left on the hood.

We lost a good friend this weekend...

You brought flavor and spunk to so many lives. In their time of need, you were able to help those on the brink of sleep deprivation or those with an extreme lack of sobriety. When I held you in my hands, my fingers wrapped around your handle for the last time, I felt your intentions so pure and simple...that's when you fell, committing suicide on Jimmy's floor - sacrificing a fresh cup of venetian dark roast so as to 'go out with a bang.' As I looked down at my feet, your broken body scattered between caffeinated splatter with part of your handle still clenched between white knuckles, all I could think was 'we had a good run...a good run, indeed.' Farewell Gourmet Ground...rest in peace.

New Mini Simmons up for grabs

When I shaped my mini simmons last summer, my dad cut out 'his version' of a mini simmons and we shaped this one at the same time. The template looks nicer. The rails and bottom and everything came out much cleaner and easier...probably because this was the second one - the first of anything is always a bitch.

It's 5'4" x 22 1/2" (ish) x 2 7/8" (ish)...I really don't remember what the dimensions are exactly, because we never measured after finishing the board.

And it had boxes instead of glassed on fins so you can move them or change the fins, which is very handy for surf change, e.g. mussy beach break verses firing point surf.

The glass job is 6-4 oz top with 3/4 4 oz patch, with a 6 oz bottom with a 4 oz fin patch. It's opaque cardboard colored with a double dark brown pin on the deck. And it's gloss and polish.

This thing is going to work pretty damn well. And by being 'up for grabs' that means its for sale if anyone is interested...let me know. cheers.
